Hello, we would like to introduce you to the website www.lidovakultura.cz, which is managed by the National Institute of Folk Culture. The site is complemented by a public Facebook page, Web lidovakultura.cz, which provides up-to-date invitations, photo galleries, and information about happenings in our regions.
We have designed the website as an information source, or if you prefer, an information hub. In the first section of the menu, Folk Culture, we offer encyclopedic information about folk culture in the Czech Republic, links to professional institutions, information sources, available periodicals, and publications. You will also find details about the Concept of More Effective Care for Traditional Folk Culture, from which many other activities are derived. In the section Living Folklore, you will find links to the UNESCO Representative List, the List of Intangible Assets of Traditional Folk Culture of the Czech Republic, Bearers of the Tradition of Folk Crafts, and a list of festivals.
We understand the term folklorism as the transfer of elements of folk culture from their original context to a different one, often with new functions. In this section of the website, we offer extensive lists of folk bands, folklore ensembles, folklore festivals, male and female choirs, brass orchestras, and societies. Each entry includes a link to its website or Facebook page, if available. At the end of each list, there is space for your comments, suggestions, and corrections of names. We will update and adjust the lists based on your feedback. The Activities and Events section showcases activities that present elements of folk culture. Here, you can find an event calendar, links to television and radio programs, a list of open-air museums, tips for visiting permanent exhibitions with ethnographic themes, a list of online resources, and more. In the Folk Dances section, we aim to gradually make recordings and documentation from the extensive Folk Dances from Bohemia, Moravia, and Silesia encyclopedia available. We also plan to publish documentation related to folk crafts.
We hope you will find what interests you on the website www.lidovakultura.cz. We look forward to your feedback, comments, and additions. You can leave them in the comments on selected pages of the site or send them to the email address info@nulk.cz.
